Australian Logrunner (Orthonyx temminckii)

An inhabitant of the dark gloomy floor of rainforests of the east coast of Australia, from the Wollongong area south of Sydney, NSW to southeast Queensland. Logrunners feed by digging and searching in deep leaf litter digging down with a sideways kick. Sometimes they almost disappear down into the leaf litter as they search for worms and the like. Female birds have a rufous throat, the males white.
