Australian Pelican (Pelicanus conspicillatus)

The Australian Pelican is a common sight in coastal locations and on lakes and rivers in much of Australia. Highly nomadic, it mostly breeds in temporary lakes far inland which fill following big rain events. Usually common on the coast of eastern Australia, hanging round boat ramps for fish scraps and will roost on streetlights as shown. Usually present in the Canberra region, even on suburban water quality control ponds.
