Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus)

The Buderigar is one of the world’s most familiar pet birds. However to see them close up in the wild like this is a special event. While the bird ranges across much of the vast interior of Australia it is highly mobile and very unpredictable in appearance in a given location. Here pairs are ‘house hunting’ among the hollows in River Red Gums along a dried out creek in northwest NSW.
