The Common Greenshank is a non-breeding summer visitor to Australia. This species breeds from N Scotland through to Siberia and overwinters from its breeding grounds in western and southern Europe, Africa and southern Asia through to Australia. A large wader with a slightly upturned beak, almost the same size as the resident Black-winged stilt. Also seen with the similar but smaller Marsh sandpiper . Also with Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and Red-necked Stint .
