Eastern Spinebill (Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris)

The stunning little Eastern Spinebill is a common honeyeater in eastern and southeastern Australia, especially closer to the coast. It is a hyperactive little nectar feeder and will come to many native bushes when in flower, like the Grevillias in this film. Will come to gardens if planted up with suitable species. In Western Australia a closely related species takes its place. It many ways, the nearest thing we have in its nature to a hummingbird!
