Grey Currawong (Strepera versicolor)

The Grey Currawong is a large crow-like bird endemic to Tasmania and southern Australia. In southeastern Australia it overlaps with the Pied Currawong. There are a number of races of this bird – the one shown here is the ‘nominate’ race of the southeast, which is the most grey in colour. That is fortunate as it contrasts well with the black pied Currawong! In the Canberra region where these birds were filmed it is much less common than the Pied Currawong.
