Inland Dotterel (Charadrius australis)

The Inland Dotterel is an endemic plover found in open stony country in the interior of mainly the southern half Australia. Here a flock is filmed on a gibber in northwestern NSW. The characteristic ‘run, stop and bob’ can be seen in this film well. The brightly coloured birds are adults, sexes are similar. Not easy to see as they blend so well and hard to approach on foot as here.
