Painted Honeyeater (Grantiella picta)

The Painted Honeyeater is an uncommon nomadic bird of inland eastern Australia. Unusual for a honeyeater in that it is highly dependent on mistletoe berries for food. This bird was filmed on a very hot summers day in Boree ( a species of Acacia) infested with Mistletoe in far SW NSW. Its call is very distinctive and a good way to pin an individual down for a closer look.
