Pheasant Coucal (Centropus phasianinus)

The Pheasant Cuckoo is a large aberrant cuckoo that spends much of its time on the ground and also builds its own nest and raises its own young. In Australia it is found in North and along the east coast. it is also found in PNG. In north Queensland, where these birds were filmed it can be found in pasture and in sugar cane. The second bird has a darker plumage associated with breeding condition.
