Wood Sandpiper (Tringa glareola)

The Wood Sandpiper is a non-breeding summer visitor to Australia from northern Eurasia. Upperparts of body has a spangled appearance, being more obviously patterned than the Marsh Sandpiper. This species breeds from Scotland and Scandinavia across to Kamchatka and overwinters from its breeding grounds in Africa, south and southeast Asia and in Australia. Seen here with Marsh Sandpipers.
