The Bar tailed Godwit breeds in the high arctic of Eurasia and in Western Alaska. It migrates south to escape winter. In New Zealand and Australia, this species is a frequently encountered bird in mudflats and estuaries in summer months. These birds come to us from eastern Siberia and Alaska. Here filmed at close range from a boardwalk in Merimbula on the south coast of NSW, Australia. Also featured is a Silver Gull, hanging around to monster the Godwits for larger prey items and a local resident wader, a Masked Lapwing.
