Eastern Rosella (Playcerus eximius)

The amazingly colourful Eastern Rosella is a common parrot in SE Australia in woodland, agricultural and suburban areas. It is a common sight in many suburban parks in Canberra, as seen here. Tends to be more common in drier more open areas than the related Crimson Rosella, with which it is often found. The Eastern Rosella is replaced by the Pale-headed Rosella in most of Queensland. The Eastern Rosella was introduced to New Zealand and is now quite common in the northern part of the North Island
