Red-browed Finch (Neochmia temporalis)

The aptly named Red-browed Finch is common along the coast and nearby ranges of eastern Australia from North Queensland to SE South Australia. In the Canberra region it is fairly common. Typical of finches, it eats mainly grass seeds – seen here in several locations in NSW close to streams, with the backgrond of some of our many frog species – Eastern Froglet and Pobblebonk in this case.
