Silver Gull (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae)

You forget about this bird, though it is very common and usually ‘in your face’ when you eat fish and chips down the coast. A small gull and by far the most common in Australia. It can be found anywhere round the coast and most places inland where there are larger expanses of water, for example it breeds on the larger lakes in Canberra. Here are a few ‘behaving themselves’ in the port of Eden in the far southeast of Australia.
